Missing Person Update
Shortly after 10:00 am on June 16th family members of 20 year old Vishay PATEL reported him as missing. An investigation was launched by Brandon Police Service which led police to believe that Vashay was last seen in the area of the Discovery Centre. On 2023-06-18, a grid search of the river area was completed through the assistance of the Office of the Fire Commissioner, in addition to Brandon Fire and Emergency Services. On the evening of 2023-06-18, members of the missing person’s family located clothing near the Assiniboine River and the Highway 110 bridge. A search of the area by emergency services personnel resulted in the discovery of a deceased male. The identity of the individual has yet to be confirmed, and the Office of the Medical Examiner will be continuing the investigation as there are no signs of foul play at this time.
Summer sees Brandon Search and Rescue continue to be busy in our community and throughout the province:
On 10 – 11 June, Seven team members provided First Aid support to the “Suffer on Centennial ” Adventure race at WESTHAWK Lake.
On Saturday 16 June, we provided survival training to the 4H Club.
Saturday also saw the team being mobilized to assist the Brandon Police Service in the search for VISHAY PATAL in the area surrounding the Discovery Center in BRANDON. The Search continued on Sunday. Unfortunately we were unable to locate Vishay. Our best wishes to his family and friends.
We also wish to offer our wishes to the family of JORDEN ROSS, who was the subject of a search one year ago on 17 Jun 22.

Shortly after 10:00am on June 16th family members of Vishay PATEL, 20 years old reported that he was missing. He was last seen on a home video surveillance camera leaving his residence in a Grey, 2012 Honda Civic . UPDATE: The vehicle was located in the Home Depot parking lot in the evening of June 16th. A witness reported possibly seeing him walkiing from Home Deport towards the Discovery Center later in the evening last night.
The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing person.
Vishay PATEL, (20) has not been seen or heard from since last evening, June 15, 2023. At approximately 11pm he left his residence in a 2012 Grey, 4 Door, Honda Civic with Manitoba License Plate GTS 985. Police and his family are concerned for his wellbeing.
Vishay is described as having dark skin and a slim build. He was last seen wearing a dark coloured or black T-Shirt, black sweatpants, and new black running shoes with yellow inside of them. He is of East Indian descent.

Over the past week, BRSAR have been very busy with support to the community and to the province.
On 27 May, we provided Safety and First Aid to the EPIC EAST GATE 10, 25 and 50km Trail races at the East Gate of Riding Mountain National Park. No injuries required our services.
On 28 May, we provided Safety and First Aid to the Brandon YMCA STRONG KIDS RUN. YMCA did a great job and no injuries treated.
On 28 May we deployed three members north to CHEMAWAWIN Cree Nation (CCN) to assist the province in the search for a missing 17 year old. The members returned on 29 May.
On 31 May we provided Safety and First Aid to the First Nations Graduation ceremonies at the Discovery center. Congratulations to BRSAR’s Krystal Kayne on graduating from Brandon University and receiving her Honour Sash.
On 31 May, we also deployed three members to CRANE RIVER to assist Manitoba Justice with an evidence search. All members returned safely
